Follow these steps to make a refreshing, cafe-style iced mocha at home using simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots strong brewed espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup or 3 tablespoons chocolate powder
  • 1 cup milk (dairy, almond, or oat work well)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar or sweetener (optional)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Whipped cream (optional topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your coffee: Brew two shots of espresso or 1/2 cup of very strong coffee. Let it cool slightly.
  2. Mix the chocolate: In the bottom of your serving glass, combine the chocolate syrup (or powder) with a small splash of warm coffee. Stir until the chocolate is fully dissolved and smooth.
  3. Add sweetener: If you are using sugar or sweetener, stir it into the chocolate mixture now.
  4. Combine liquids: Pour the remaining cooled coffee and the milk into the glass. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  5. Add ice: Fill the glass completely with ice cubes.
  6. Serve: Top with whipped cream if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate syrup.
  • If you prefer a blended mocha, combine all ingredients (except ice) with 1.5 cups of ice in a blender and process until smooth.
  • To make this dairy-free, use oat milk or almond milk.
  • For a peppermint mocha, add 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract to the chocolate mixture.
