Make this easy, no-cook strawberry salsa that balances sweet fruit with savory onion and a touch of heat. It is a refreshing dip perfect for summer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, diced
  • 1/2 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced (adjust to taste)
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave nectar (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Wash and hull the strawberries, then dice them into small, uniform pieces.
  2. Finely dice the red onion and mince the jalapeno pepper. Remove all seeds from the jalapeno for less heat.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the diced strawberries, red onion, cilantro, and minced jalapeno.
  4. Pour the fresh lime juice over the mixture.
  5. Add the salt and honey or agave nectar, if using.
  6. Gently stir all ingredients together until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the salsa chunky.
  7. Taste the salsa and adjust salt or lime juice as needed for balance.
  8. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Use firm, ripe strawberries for the best texture and flavor.
  • For a spicier salsa, leave some seeds in the jalapeno or add a dash of cayenne pepper.
  • This salsa pairs well with tortilla chips, grilled chicken, or flaky white fish.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
