Follow this recipe to make sweet and sticky BBQ chicken wings coated in a thick honey glaze. You can bake or grill these wings for a perfect party appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Toss the chicken wings with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack.
  3. Bake the wings for 25 minutes.
  4. While the wings bake, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, combine the BBQ sauce, honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and garlic powder.
  5. Heat the sauce mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it simmers and thickens slightly, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  6. After 25 minutes of baking, remove the wings from the oven. Brush them generously with half of the honey glaze mixture.
  7. Return the wings to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the glaze is sticky.
  8. Remove the wings from the oven. Toss them immediately in the remaining warm glaze until fully coated.
  9. Serve the sticky BBQ chicken wings immediately.

Notes

  • For crispier skin, bake the wings for 15 minutes, then increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C) for the final 15-20 minutes.
  • If grilling, cook over medium heat, turning often, until cooked through, then brush with glaze during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  • To make the glaze thicker, simmer it for a few extra minutes until it coats the back of a spoon.
