A simple recipe for cooking steak and shrimp together on one sheet pan using a rich garlic butter sauce for a quick weeknight surf and turf meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound asparagus, trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the steak cubes with half of the olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread the steak in a single layer on one half of the prepared sheet pan.
  3. In a separate bowl, toss the shrimp and asparagus with the remaining olive oil, salt, and pepper. Place the asparagus on the other half of the sheet pan, leaving space between the steak and shrimp.
  4. Bake the steak and asparagus for 8 minutes.
  5. While the steak and asparagus bake, prepare the garlic butter sauce: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice and parsley.
  6. Remove the sheet pan from the oven. Push the asparagus to one side and add the seasoned shrimp to the pan. Brush half of the garlic butter sauce over the steak and asparagus.
  7. Return the sheet pan to the oven and bake for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the steak reaches your desired doneness (medium-rare is usually achieved around 130 degrees Fahrenheit internal temperature) and the shrimp are pink and cooked through.
  8. Remove from the oven. Drizzle the remaining garlic butter sauce over the shrimp and steak. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For medium-rare steak, aim for 130 degrees Fahrenheit. For medium, aim for 135 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • If you prefer crispier vegetables, you can roast the asparagus alone for 5 minutes before adding the steak and shrimp.
  • You can substitute broccoli florets or sliced bell peppers for the asparagus.
