Ingredients
Scale
12 standard pretzel rods
8 ounces white chocolate melting wafers or high-quality white chocolate, chopped
4 ounces pink candy melts or white chocolate tinted with pink oil-based food coloring
1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for thinning)
Assorted sprinkles or sanding sugar (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
Prepare your workspace by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
Melt the white chocolate: Place the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until smooth. Do not overheat. If using, stir in half of the coconut oil.
Melt the pink chocolate: Place the pink candy melts or colored white chocolate in a separate microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until completely smooth. Stir in the remaining coconut oil if needed.
Dip the rods: Hold one pretzel rod near the end. Dip it into the melted white chocolate, rotating it to coat about two-thirds of the rod. Lift the rod and let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
Create the swirl: Immediately after dipping in white chocolate, dip the coated section lightly into the pink chocolate, or drizzle the pink chocolate over the white chocolate while it is still wet. Use a toothpick to gently swirl the two colors together for a marbled effect.
Decorate: While the chocolate is wet, immediately sprinkle with your chosen decorations, if using.
Set the chocolate: Place the dipped pretzel rod on the prepared baking sheet. Allow the chocolate to set completely at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or speed up the process by chilling in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
Repeat the process for all remaining pretzel rods.
Notes
Use oil-based food coloring if you tint white chocolate; water-based coloring will cause the chocolate to seize.
For a thinner coating, add a small amount of coconut oil to the melted chocolate.
Store finished pretzel rods in a single layer in an airtight container at cool room temperature.
These treats are excellent for Valentine’s Day, baby showers, or birthday parties.
