Make a cafe-style iced latte that tastes like banana bread using simple ingredients and spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee, chilled
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 2 tablespoons banana bread syrup (see notes)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: Whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the banana bread syrup first, if making from scratch.
  2. In a shaker or tall glass, combine the chilled espresso or coffee, milk, banana bread syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Stir or shake well to combine the ingredients thoroughly.
  4. Fill a serving glass completely with ice cubes.
  5. Pour the coffee mixture over the ice.
  6. Top with whipped cream, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • To make a quick banana bread syrup: Combine 1/4 cup mashed ripe banana, 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract in a small saucepan. Simmer for 5 minutes, mash banana pieces, then strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve. Cool before use.
  • For a dairy-free option, use oat milk or almond milk.
  • If you prefer a stronger banana flavor without making syrup, blend 1 tablespoon of very ripe mashed banana directly into the milk and coffee mixture before shaking.
