Make this simple, soothing tea using fresh ginger, lemon, and honey. It is a comforting warm drink for any time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 inch fresh ginger root, thinly sliced or grated
  • 1/2 medium lemon, sliced or juiced
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons honey (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced or grated ginger in a small saucepan.
  2. Add the water to the saucepan.
  3. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes for a stronger flavor.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  6. Strain the liquid into a mug, discarding the ginger pieces.
  7. Squeeze the juice from the lemon slices into the mug, or add the lemon slices directly.
  8. Stir in the honey until it dissolves completely.
  9. Let the tea cool slightly before drinking.

Notes

  • For a stronger flavor, simmer the ginger for the full 10 minutes.
  • If you like a spicier tea, add a small pinch of cayenne pepper with the honey.
  • Use filtered water for the best taste.
