Ingredients
Scale
2 oz Blanco Tequila
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
0.75 oz Agave Nectar or Simple Syrup
3 thin slices Fresh Jalapeño (seeds removed for less heat)
Ice cubes
Lime wheel for garnish
Coarse salt or sugar for rim (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the rim if desired: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass. Roll the rim in coarse salt or sugar on a small plate. Fill the glass with ice.
Place the three jalapeño slices into a cocktail shaker.
Add the tequila, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar (or simple syrup) to the shaker.
Muddle the jalapeño slices gently 3 to 4 times. Do not over-muddle, as this can release bitter flavors.
Fill the shaker with ice.
Seal the shaker and shake hard until the outside is well-chilled, about 15 seconds.
Double strain the mixture into your prepared, ice-filled glass to keep out small jalapeño seeds and pulp.
Garnish with a fresh lime wheel.
Notes
Adjust the number of jalapeño slices based on your preferred spice level. Start with two slices for a mild kick.
For a sweeter drink, increase the agave nectar to 1 oz. For a tarter drink, decrease it to 0.5 oz.
Use a high-quality 100% agave tequila for the best flavor.
If you prefer a salt rim, use kosher salt or flaky sea salt.
