Ingredients
Scale
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 drops green food coloring (or more, to reach desired color)
1 tablespoon crème de menthe syrup (optional, for stronger flavor)
For Mint Whipped Cream:
1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
1 drop green food coloring
Instructions
Prepare the Mint Whipped Cream first: Chill a metal bowl and whisk attachment for 10 minutes.
Pour the cold heavy whipping cream into the chilled bowl. Begin whipping on medium speed until soft peaks form.
Add the powdered sugar, peppermint extract, and green food coloring. Increase the speed to medium-high and whip until stiff peaks form. Set aside in the refrigerator.
To make the shake: Combine the vanilla ice cream, whole milk, peppermint extract, vanilla extract, green food coloring, and crème de menthe syrup (if using) in a high-powered blender.
Blend on low speed initially, gradually increasing the speed until the mixture is thick and smooth. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed. Do not over-blend, or the shake will become too thin.
Pour the milkshake into two tall glasses.
Top each serving generously with the prepared Mint Whipped Cream. Serve immediately.
Notes
For an extra thick shake, use slightly less milk or add 1/4 cup of frozen whipped topping to the blender mixture.
Adjust the amount of green food coloring until you achieve the bright green color you prefer.
If you do not have crème de menthe syrup, increase the peppermint extract slightly for a stronger mint flavor.
