Ingredients
Scale
3 firm, slightly green bananas
1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch salt
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 325°F (160°C).
Peel the bananas and slice them thinly, about 1/8 inch thick. Use a mandoline for uniform slices if you have one.
In a medium bowl, toss the banana slices with the melted coconut oil until lightly coated.
In a small separate bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, and salt thoroughly.
Place the oiled banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary.
Air fry for 8 minutes.
Carefully remove the basket, gently toss the chips, and sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over them.
Return the basket to the air fryer and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the chips are crisp. Check frequently after the 5-minute mark to prevent burning.
Remove the chips and immediately sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over them. Let them cool completely on a wire rack; they will crisp up further as they cool.
Notes
Use firm bananas; very ripe bananas will become soft or burn easily.
For a less sweet coating, reduce the sugar to 1 tablespoon.
If you do not have an air fryer, you can bake these at 300°F (150°C) for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
