A rich, decadent dark chocolate fondue infused with the warm flavor of bourbon, perfect for an adult gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces high-quality dark chocolate (60-70% cacao), chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped dark chocolate in a medium, heatproof bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer around the edges. Do not let it boil rapidly.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit undisturbed for 5 minutes to soften the chocolate.
  4. Add the bourbon, butter, vanilla extract, and salt to the bowl.
  5. Gently whisk the mixture starting from the center and working outward until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  6. Transfer the fondue immediately to a preheated fondue pot or a small slow cooker set to low.
  7. Keep warm while serving. Stir occasionally.

Notes

  • Use a bourbon with oaky or caramel notes for the best flavor pairing.
  • For dipping, try pound cake cubes, strawberries, dried apricots, pretzel rods, and marshmallows.
  • If the fondue becomes too thick, whisk in one teaspoon of warm milk or cream at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
