Follow this simple recipe for moist, flaky baked salmon ready for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spoon the butter mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet.
  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets. Thicker fillets require closer to 15 minutes.
  6. Check for doneness by gently flaking the thickest part of the fish with a fork. The salmon should flake easily and be opaque throughout.
  7. Serve immediately with your choice of side dishes.

Notes

  • For thicker fillets (over 1 inch), you may need to increase the baking time by 2 to 3 minutes.
  • If you prefer a crispier top, briefly place the salmon under the broiler for the last 1 to 2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • You can substitute dried herbs with 1 tablespoon of fresh, chopped herbs like dill or chives.
