Prepare these easy, sweet, and savory appetizers featuring cocktail sausages wrapped in bacon and coated with spiced apple butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14 ounce) package cocktail smoked sausages (Smokies)
  • 1 pound thin-cut bacon, cut in half crosswise
  • 1/2 cup apple butter (spiced variety recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the apple butter and brown sugar until combined.
  3. Take one piece of halved bacon and wrap it around one cocktail sausage. Secure the bacon with a toothpick if necessary.
  4. Place the wrapped sausages on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Brush the top and sides of each bacon-wrapped sausage generously with the apple butter mixture.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp and cooked through.
  7. For extra crispiness, you may broil for the last 1 to 2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Remove toothpicks before serving.

Notes

  • For a less messy preparation, you can assemble these ahead of time and store them covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 hours before baking.
  • If you prefer a slow cooker method, cook on low for 3 to 4 hours after brushing with the glaze.
  • Use thin-cut bacon for the best crisping results.
