Ingredients
Scale
1 pound lean ground turkey (93% or leaner)
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (Panko recommended)
1 large egg
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 whole wheat burger buns
Your choice of toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese)
Instructions
In a large bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix just until combined; do not overmix.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form them into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Create a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging during cooking.
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray, or brush the patties lightly with oil if your air fryer requires it. Place the turkey patties in a single layer in the basket, ensuring they do not overlap.
Air fry for 10 minutes. Flip the patties carefully.
Continue to air fry for another 4 to 7 minutes, depending on your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
Remove the burgers when they reach 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
Toast the buns in the air fryer for the last 2 minutes of cooking, if desired.
Serve the turkey burgers immediately on the toasted buns with your preferred toppings.
Notes
For medium-well, aim for an internal temperature of 160°F before resting.
If you prefer a richer flavor, substitute 1 tablespoon of the breadcrumbs with 1 tablespoon of finely grated onion.
If your patties are sticking, lightly spray the basket before placing the patties in.
