Make crispy, savory ranch-flavored chickpeas quickly using your air fryer. This recipe yields a crunchy snack or salad topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, rinsed and thoroughly dried
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1.5 tablespoons dry ranch seasoning mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the canned chickpeas under cold water. Pat them completely dry using paper towels or a clean kitchen towel. Removing moisture is key for crispiness.
  2. Place the dried chickpeas in a medium bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat evenly.
  3. Sprinkle the ranch seasoning mix over the oiled chickpeas. Toss again until every chickpea has seasoning adhering to it.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit (195 degrees Celsius) for 3 minutes.
  5. Place the seasoned chickpeas in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously every 5 minutes to promote even cooking.
  7. Continue cooking until the chickpeas are golden brown and crunchy.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving. They will crisp up more as they cool.

Notes

  • For the best crunch, ensure the chickpeas are completely dry before adding oil and seasoning.
  • If you prefer a saltier flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of salt with the ranch seasoning.
  • If you do not have dry ranch seasoning, you can use a homemade blend of dried herbs like dill, parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, and a little buttermilk powder substitute.
