Make perfectly crispy, golden-brown potato wedges using your air fryer with minimal oil. Follow these steps for a crunchy exterior and fluffy interior.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large Russet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the potatoes thoroughly. Cut each potato lengthwise into 8 equal wedges.
  2. Place the cut wedges in a bowl and soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This removes excess starch.
  3. Drain the water completely. Spread the wedges on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and pat them completely dry. This step is crucial for crispiness.
  4. In the bowl, toss the dry wedges with olive oil until lightly coated.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Sprinkle the seasoning mix over the oiled wedges and toss to coat evenly.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  7. Place the seasoned wedges in the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if necessary. Do not overcrowd the basket.
  8. Air fry for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously every 7 minutes to ensure even browning.
  9. Check for doneness; the wedges should be golden brown and crisp on the outside and tender inside.
  10. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can lightly spray the basket with cooking spray before adding the potatoes to prevent sticking.
  • Russet potatoes work best for this recipe due to their high starch content.
  • If you prefer a garlic flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of dried minced garlic to the seasoning blend.
