Ingredients
Scale
2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
Instructions
Pat the chicken wings completely dry using paper towels. This step is key for crispiness.
In a large bowl, toss the dried wings with the baking powder, salt, black pepper, lemon pepper seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder until evenly coated.
Lightly drizzle the seasoned wings with the oil and toss again to distribute the oil.
Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit (195 degrees Celsius) for 5 minutes.
Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
Air fry for 15 minutes.
Flip the wings. Increase the temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius) and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) and the skin is golden brown and crisp.
Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, toss the finished wings with 1 tablespoon of melted butter after they come out of the air fryer.
If you prefer a stronger lemon flavor, add 1 teaspoon of lemon zest to the dry rub mixture.
Do not skip drying the wings; excess moisture prevents crisping.
