Make perfectly crispy, golden brown French fries using your air fryer with this simple recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large Russet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into uniform 1/4-inch thick sticks.
  2. Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl and cover them completely with cold water. Soak for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, to remove excess starch.
  3. Drain the potatoes completely and dry them thoroughly using paper towels or a clean kitchen cloth. This step is crucial for crispiness.
  4. In the bowl, toss the dried potatoes with the olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  6. Place the seasoned potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  7. Air fry for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously every 5 minutes, until the fries are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches for the best texture.
  • If you use frozen fries, cook them at 380°F (195°C) for 10 to 14 minutes, shaking halfway through.
  • For extra flavor, toss with smoked paprika or onion powder before cooking.
